Whoo-hoo! It’s been a year of THINKing!
I’m celebrating — and thanking — you all for supporting me as a writer, supporting literary arts, and funding and subscribing to THINKing that’s longer than a text or Tweet!
THINK launched officially on September 30, 2020, with the first full essay going out October 7, 2020.
The little-newsletter-that-could started out with zip, crickets, nada, zero readers on day one.
One year later, THINK has over 105 subscribers. That’s two-plus readers joining THINK per week.
Now, slightly more than a hundred readers may not sound like all that … but to me it’s wonderful validation that there are still some people out there who value thoughtful looks at sometimes complex issues, who appreciate the written word, and who are willing to support writers by signing up for free emails or choosing a paid subscription option.
I’m so appreciative of each and every one of you: the founding Patron Saints of THINK (you know who you are and I adore you!), the early paid subscribers who helped get THINK off the ground, the ongoing free email sign-ups, and of course, all the other paying subscribers who have joined throughout the last 12 months!
But for year two, I’ve set my sights on THINKing BIG. My goals are twofold:
One thousand readers on Substack. 1,000 BIG ones! For those of us who have been around a long time, that’s called a BHAG — a Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal. Yeah. I want to grow my readers on Substack from 100 to 1,000 in the course of 365 days. That’s three new readers a day. Yowza … big audacious, almost-undoable-sounding leap, right? But I’m going for it! And, I’m hoping like heck you’ll lend me a hand — deets further down.
and goal #2?
This November, I’m launching a second newsletter! It’s called “Boys of Beantown” and it’s a serialization of my book-in-progress that shares the highlights (and the lowlights) of the (mostly) romantic life of a single woman living and working in the mid-1990s in one of the greatest (and at the time, grittiest) cities in the world — Boston, Massachusetts.
Bad boys? Good men?
Beans WILL be spilled.
So, will you celebrate my one year-anniversary with me and help make my BHAG for year-two a reality?
Here are some things you can do (in 60 seconds or less):
Make a personal recommendation to your friends, family, Facebook followers — anywhere you like — by clicking here to Recommend Think, scrolling to the bottom (you might want to read it first ;) and then hitting the SHARE button. You’ll be able to easily share that “I recommend THINK” post on any platform you like — send it via email to friends or family, share it on your Linkedin, spread it near and far on Facebook, Twitter, etc. I would be BHAG-ally grateful!
Leave a three-word comment below letting me know what you love, like, or egads, even hate, about THINK. Feel free to write more if you’re feeling writerly. If you’re short on time, a simple Happy Anniversary or Congrats would be just as great ;).
Share without recommending. If you don’t want to specifically “recommend” THINK (I promise not to cry in a corner ;), you can simply click the “Share Think” button below and choose an option for sharing my archive and landing page without making a personal recommendation.
Consider a gift subscription to someone you know who might like THINK.
Consider converting/upgrading your THINK experience from free to paid. If you’re not currently a paying subscriber, I invite you to become a “birthday benefactor” of THINK.
There’s a $5/month option, a $30/year option, and a Patron Saint of THINK option. Bonus: all paying subscribers who paid (or pay) between December 1, 2020 and November 10, 2021 will receive an extended free trial to “Boys of Beantown,” as well as a discounted subscription price offer to that newsletter when it launches after November 15 of this year.
Sign up to keep posted on “Boys of Beantown.” If you’re not currently on my free email list for THINK and only want to know when I launch “Boys of Beantown,” be sure to sign up at least for THINK’s free emails now. I’ll be announcing “Boys of Beantown” on THINK emails in November. You can always unscribe to THINK later (but why!? :)
And lastly, please, please, please, accept my heartfelt BIG THANKS for being a reader. You’ve made the last year a much, much happier one for me and I hope I’ve returned the favor just a little bit for you.
I always enjoy your smart, interesting writing, MC. Congratulations on your success with THINK. I’m looking forward to the book except series, sounds fascinating!
Happy anniversary 🍾🥂 It has been a thought provoking experience. Keep you the work MC.
