Sarasota is a gem, for sure Patti! Just needs a little bit more "sense" :)

Great piece, MC! Our representatives and senators are certainly an embarrassment and much worse, a danger.

I know being a Democrat in FL puts me in the minority, yet our Republican politicians ( many of them) have shown total disregard for truth, honesty and their constituents. FL has been called “ Weird Florida” and sadly it lives up to that title. Another well written article MC.

Being new to Substack, I was under the impression it was to be a balanced viewpoint affair; I would prefer to not lock into echo chambers, from any point in the spectrum, as they tend to not accomplish anything constructive...

The range of King's insight was enormous and keeps on being so. Florida under the four horses' arses has moved farther towards the Banana Republic model. These men have no real ideology. Steube is a slave to munitions manufacturers; Gruters has a small firm that claimed 67 employees for PPP; DeSantis is a repressive servant of tRump, and Buchanan sold used cars and now employs hackneyed cliches where thought might help. Kingl's insight helps us see that it is not these four men who should be castigated for their idiocies; it's the people who didn't bother to listen to them, or to anyone else. The constituents who voted for these and other disturbing candidates such as Rick Scott, Christian Ziegler, or Mike Moran do not take their citizenship seriously; they swallow bilge and wash it down with white wine, poolside. They need a civics lesson in will to give a damn.
